Lactation Consultants
Our Lactation Consultants are here to support your infant feeding challenges!
Lactation Services
IBCLC’s or International Board Certified Lactation Consultants are the only healthcare professionals who are internationally certified and educated in supporting complex infant feeding issues. They support and assist in ALL feeding challenges be it breast/chest, bottle, pumping or starting solids.

What Does A Lactation Consultant Do?
Sometimes, for various reasons, infant feeding doesn't align with our initial expectations during pregnancy. At The MomMe Clinic, our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) are here to provide the assistance you need. They specialize in identifying and addressing the root causes of feeding difficulties you and your baby may be encountering, working towards effective resolutions. Our IBCLC supports all infant feeding methods, including breast, chest, bottle, and more, and can also assist with the introduction of complementary solids and baby-led weaning. Get the support you and your baby deserve.
It depends on your coverage. You MAY be able to submit through a Health Care Spending Account. Currently Manulife, Great West Life, Sunlife and GreenShield offer coverage for the services of an IBCLC (if your employer has added that service to your plan). As every extended health insurance plan is different, you will need to contact them for information about what you are covered for.
Are Lactation Consultant Services Covered By Insurance?

Latch Issues: A lactation consultant can help ensure that your baby is latching correctly onto the breast to facilitate effective breastfeeding and minimize nipple pain or damage.
Low Milk Supply: If you're concerned about having a low milk supply or your baby not getting enough milk, a lactation consultant can assess the situation and provide strategies to increase milk production.
Breastfeeding Pain: They can address issues like sore nipples, engorgement, and mastitis, providing advice on pain management and techniques for more comfortable breastfeeding.
Feeding Positions: Lactation consultants can recommend optimal breastfeeding positions to help both you and your baby achieve a comfortable and effective latch.
Breast Pumping: If you need to use a breast pump, they can offer guidance on pump selection, usage, and pumping schedules.
Tongue or Lip Tie: They can assess and provide information on tongue or lip tie issues that may affect breastfeeding and recommend appropriate interventions if necessary.
Transitioning to Solid Foods: As your baby grows, a lactation consultant can assist with the transition from breastfeeding to solid foods and maintaining a balanced diet.
Weaning: When the time comes to stop breastfeeding, they can offer advice on the weaning process and help ensure a smooth transition.
Breastfeeding Challenges for Preterm or Ill Infants: If your baby is born prematurely or has medical challenges, a lactation consultant can provide specialized support for breastfeeding in these situations.
Breastfeeding for Special Circumstances: Lactation consultants are trained to address breastfeeding challenges in unique circumstances, such as multiple births, adoption, or induced lactation.
