Breastfeeding Bootcamp

OHIP funded small group breastfeeding basics for mother and baby led by Dr. Lynda Newkirk, MD, CCFP, IBCLC

Topics include:

• Positioning and latching baby at the breast

• Establishing milk supply

• Pumping

• Bottle Feeding

• Nipple Care

• Breast Care

Participation requires:

• Advanced registration

• A valid OHIP number and version code for mother

• The lactating parent should attend with their infant

• NOTE: Any accompanying persons will be asked to wait in a separate area to ensure that all participants are comfortable to feed their babies during the session.

The focus of these sessions will be to provide general information that applies to most feeding families. This will not take the place of individual lactation consultations to address more complex challenges, however for some dyads, it may provide the guidance needed to resolve their difficulties.
